ABOUT OUR COVER
SKIRTING THE ALDERS - RUFFED GROUSE by Jim Rataczak
"It was the middle of a great Minnesota season, but the trees still held their leaves. Most of the birds we found were in thick alder groves and it seemed each flush found a grouse buzzing out over the tops of these small trees. It was tough winshooting, and I admit to bagging not a single bird. But the autumn colors were glorious, the birds were there; I simply relied on my memory to bring home the birds my gun could not." This work is not in print but Jim has many other paintings in print and accepts commissions; call 612-784-5581.
